This inaugural edition of the LinguaSOUTH Forum featured the collaboration of Gemma Parellada, an exceptional journalist and photographer with an unmatched career on Malian soil. From the academic sphere, Prof. Coulibaly, General Director of the Malian Academy of Languages (AMALAN) and linguistics professor at the University of Bamako, alongside Traoré Seydou, Secretary General of AMALAN, linguist, translator, and interpreter, painted a vivid picture of the country’s linguistic and cultural landscape to the delight of philology students and the general public alike.

The afternoon session featured workshops on Malian languages (Bambara, Soninke, Fulfulde, and Syenara) alongside a specialized workshop on the ethnography of communication between USAL students and speakers of Malian languages. During this session, 17 mixed teams competed to deepen their knowledge of Malian cultures. The day concluded with a screening of the film Wùlu (Mali, 2016) at the Juan del Enzina Theatre (University of Salamanca).
