LinguaSOUTH

Presentation

The LinguaSOUTH Chair addresses a longstanding historical debt to the bodies of knowledge produced in the Global South, focusing on two fundamental areas. The first aim is to foster research, the generation of knowledge, and the dissemination of studies on the languages and cultures of Africa and India, many of which hold immeasurable cultural, historical, and epistemological value. The second is to promote the development of linguistic, cultural, and research projects between Spain and these contexts, with a focus on the study and management of multilingualism as a strategic issue for mutual understanding, educational innovation, and social cohesion. This Chair responds to the commitment to the promotion of global knowledge, linguistic diversity, and international academic cooperation shared by the University of Salamanca, ACESDA, Fundación Mujeres por África and Casa África.

Based in the Department of English Philology (Facultad de Filología, USAL), this Chair is affiliated with the Knowledge Transfer Group (GTC, for its initials in Spanish) ‘TransLingGap’ (U.I.C. LinGAP).
